Plus belle la vie: ‘It will shock the public’… Stephane Hannon (Boher) tells us more about the outcome of the Cecilia/Maxim case

In 2007, Stéphane Hannon arrived at Plus belle la vie in the shoes of Jean-Paul Boher, an Alsatian policeman with conservative values. Very quickly becoming one of the iconic characters of the France 3 soap opera, the actor, unsurprisingly, returned to TF1 during the launch of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle.

For several weeks now, Jean-Paul Boher has been investigating Maxime (Renault Leymans) and Cecilia (Delphine Chagnac), two associates who seem to be hiding many secrets.

As the twist-filled storyline prepares to come to an end this Friday, AlloCiné caught up with Stéphane Hannon at the Series Mania festival currently taking place in Lille to discuss what lies ahead for his character in the coming weeks.

AlloCiné: You have been playing Jean-Paul Boehre for over 15 years now. What do you like so much about this character?

Stephen Hannon : He is a very spoiled character. He went through everything. It’s great for an actor to be able to play so many emotions and things. I still gave birth to pizza (laugh).

I am very spoiled by the authors. And if I had to choose a role in Plus belle la vie, it would be Boher. He is an anti-hero with broken bones and injuries. He is an ordinary man who experiences extraordinary things. And that’s what I like.

Did you get the impression that Boher’s character changed between France 3 and TF1, or did the essence of the character remain the same?

No, because they tried to keep the DNA of Plus belle la vie. It was important for us. When I was asked to return, it was important to me to preserve the things that made life more beautiful.

I was a little afraid of that. I think everyone was a little scared because we were changing the channel. It was important for us to preserve our DNA, to be close to society and to deal with social facts.

It was necessary. This is what makes people identify with characters like us, who are ordinary people. I think this is what makes Plus belle la vie so successful.

Boher is currently at the center of Cecilia and Maxime’s investigation. Can you tell us a little bit about the plot? What can we expect from this end of the investigation? Will the public be surprised?

Yes, it will surprise the public, but I can’t tell you more. But the most important thing is that it ends well. We all doubt a little: I stay alive (laugh).

Due to her relationship with Maxime, Luna will also be in great danger. Will he survive this intrigue?

I don’t have to say that, but there is a chance (laughs). But if I had to bet, I would bet on my life.

Can you tell us what’s in store for Bohr in the coming weeks?

There will be a lot of investigation because he is a police officer. And then there is his personal life as well. He has two daughters and there will be something about that, but also about his wife. We deal with professional and personal parties.

Plus belle la vie, even since the launch of plus belle, you are in every arch thanks to your police status. Are you about to find yourself at the center of your own conspiracy?

I have no disappointment. It is, and I let it happen naturally. I’m excited about what I’m playing. Being in the heart of the ark doesn’t matter to me. Being there is part of neighborhood life.

And then it’s everyone’s turn, and that’s good. This allows you to have no stars. This is the series that is the star. That’s why there is a very good atmosphere because there is no competition. There are no unhealthy things.

You were talking about the character of Lucy. During the launch of Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle, Boehre comes face to face with a little girl who is gradually entering her teenage years. Is this something that will be explored more in the coming months?

I can’t say too much, but we are currently working on it. I’m currently playing and I can’t tell you more. Agathe Dodeman, who plays her, is a great actress, so it opens up a lot of possibilities.

The cast also changed between Plus belle la vie and Plus belle la vie even plus belle…

Yes, Roman Libert played the character in Plus belle la vie on France 3. He was already a successful actor, he worked hard. It’s funny to be in front of a young actor who is taking his first steps but is very instinctive.

There’s something magical about it because it has a childish side and it has a very natural side. He gives me lessons. There are times when I feel like I play with him differently than I do with others. I don’t have my little tics anymore because I’m really with him.

Boher usually works a lot with Patrick. But for this investigation of Cecilia and Maximus, he investigated with Samuel. What is it like to change partners and work with Inaki Lartig?

Inac is a great person, but I don’t mind working with Jérôme Bertin, who is a friend in life. But Inaki is beautiful. He is a very good actor and it is good to play with other people.

This is the advantage of a series like Plus belle la vie. We never get bored or fall into a routine. There are always many different actors coming and we play many different things. It’s really nice.

Do you have a project you’d like to tell us about?

At the moment, Plus belle la vie is taking up a lot of time. I don’t feel disappointed about it. If someone offers me something I’m interested in, I’ll go for it without hesitation. I was offered something that will probably be in the month of September. It will be a feature film.
