The largest Renaissance museum in the world will have digital tickets
The management of the Uffizi Galleries complex in Florence announced this Tuesday (19th) a series of innovations in the museum’s programming, including extraordinary openings and the introduction of digital tickets starting from May.
According to the director of the museum complex, Simone Verde, the galleries will be open on Mondays for the next holidays: April 1st (Easter), April 29th, June 24th (the feast of San Giovanni, patron saint of Florence) and December 30th – and every Tuesday evening.
“The dematerialisation of the ticket will speed up the entry of visitors to the museum, constituting the first step towards freeing Piazza degli Uffizi from everything that clutters it. The objective is to make this place shine again so that it returns to what it was: the town hall and one of the most beautiful places in the world,” he explained.
The night openings of the complex, which brings together the Uffizi Gallery, the main Renaissance art museum in the world, Palazzo Pitti, ancient home of the powerful Medici, and the Boboli Gardens, will take place every Tuesday, from 26 to 17 March. December, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm – with last entry allowed at 8.30pm.
“These inaugurations aimed to facilitate and encourage the citizens of Florence, in particular, to ‘recover’ and rediscover its main and most identifying museum, the Uffizi Galleries, providing a schedule more compatible with the dynamics and needs of those who live and works in the city”, underlined Verde.
Regarding the digital ticket, the director of the complex explained that, starting from May, anyone who books a visit to the site via the call center or the official website will receive a QR code to download directly via email onto their smartphone, the code which will allow the ‘access. .
