“Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV”: when and where to watch the powerful documentary of Drake Bell and other child actors

On March 17, the documentary series “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV” premiered in the United States, which before its release had already given a lot to talk about due to the strong subject matter of some Nickelodeon child stars .

What is “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV”?

No one would have guessed that behind hit shows of the 2000s like ‘Drake & Josh’, ‘iCarly’ and ‘Zoey 101’, kids were experiencing the worst: situations ranging from molestation and sexuality to sexual abuse.

This documentary exposes some of the best kept secrets through interviews with employees who were present during the production of these projects.

The investigation is divided into four parts and has caused quite a stir.

Dan Snyder, TV producer and writer of series like “Victorious” and “Zoey 101,” is accused of abusing and sexualizing Ariana Grande and Jamie Lynn Spears. There are other production assistants who have shown similar actions, such as Jason Handy from “All That” and “The Amanda Show.”

One of the highlights of the documentary is the participation of Drake Bell, star of “Drake & Josh,” who broke his silence about the sexual abuse he suffered from Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.

What did Drake Bell say about Brian Peck?

The actor spoke about the terrible experience he lived with this man, making sure that he is not the only one, but there are hundreds of victims, since he trained almost all the actors of Nickelodeon, even more famous stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, James Marsden and Will Friedle.

“Brian and I got really close because we had a lot of the same interests, which, looking back, I think was probably a little calculated,” Drake said.

The actor confessed that his father began to notice “strange behaviours”, so he tried to express his concern, but the same production began to exclude him and keep him away from the set, since there was a strict control with “conflicting” parents.

“I was sleeping on the couch where I normally sleep and I woke up with him on top of me aggressively touching me. I was paralyzed, in complete shock and had no idea what to do or how to react. I often think back to that time and wonder how I survived. I remember all the abusive events, but everything outside of that is very blurry to me, which is a shame because I experienced so many great things in my life and career during that time, but it was so overshadowed and destroyed by what I was dealing with inside that made it very difficult for me” concludes the singer.

Brian Peck was arrested after the boy’s parents reported him to police on 11 charges, including indecency with a child, sodomy and oral copulation using anesthesia or a controlled substance, delivery of harmful material and using a minor for sexual acts.

Drake also talks about all the support Peck received when he was convicted.

Will Friedle and Rider Strong, from the series “Boy Meets World”, explained that he had a very strange way of manipulating them, in which the victim became the perpetrator, a classic case of sexual abuse.
