Part 1 was a simple battle, the second will be a war… This could be the summary of Rebel Moon Part 2, the new trailer of which Netflix just released.
The action diptych created by Zack Snyder, which was supposed to pave the way for the development of an ambitious sci-fi franchise, will make a grand return to the platform on April 19.
Rebel Moon 2 is subtitled L’Entaileuse, after the nickname of its main character, played by Franco-Algerian actress Sofia Boutella. Formerly an elite soldier for the Mother World Empire, the latter retired to an agricultural planet to live in peace.
Trapped in the past, he will have no choice but to take up arms again and form an army of mercenaries to protect his adopted people.
A new ally will take up arms
In the first part of Rebel Moon, a team was formed, led by Korra, but recruited a traitor. However, antagonizing Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) becomes the heroes’ advantage, although the latter is eventually resurrected by the ambitious Senator Balisarius (Fra Fay), Cora’s adoptive father.
Thus, the second part of the diptych will be animated by the spirit of revenge, and the troops under the command of the admiral will try to destroy forever the resistance gathered on the planet Vedd. But the group of mercenaries will be able to rely on a new main ally, the robot soldier Jimmy (voiced by Anthony Hopkins in the original version).
Imagined as a Star Wars spin-off
The new trailer for Zack Snyder’s film promises a veritable flood of action, including battles against soldiers armed with laser swords. Remember that Rebel Moon was originally envisioned by an American filmmaker as a Star Wars spin-off (but the project was not picked up by Lucasfilm, which at the time was still headed by George Lucas).
Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire is now available exclusively on Netflix. Part 2: The Slasher will be available from April 19.
