The releases of the week on Prime Video surprised subscribers such as the Oscar winner, Anatomy of One Fall, as well as Black Adam and Asteroid City.
Prime Video subscribers have nothing to complain about streaming in March. Full of new features, the platform has filled its catalog with interesting titles, including the Oscar winner in the Best Original Screenplay category, Anatomy of a fall. Of French origin, the drama tells the story of a man who is found dead on his doorstep and, since the reason for his death is unknown – which could be suicide, murder or even a sudden illness – his wife becomes the protagonist suspect.
To make matters worse, her blind 11-year-old son is the only witness in the case, as they live in an isolated chalet in the Alps. From then on, a real judicial hunt begins to find out whether the woman killed or minus the husband. At the same time, her relationship with her son becomes increasingly complicated. Directed by Justine Triet, the film is the third title directed by a woman to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It attracted attention for the quality of the cast and also for the performance of Messi, the dog who accompanies the family.
Another film that won over the public and landed on Prime is City of asteroids, by director Wes Anderson. Set in a fictional small town in the United States in the 1950s, the plot follows a group of diverse people who isolate themselves there when the government announces an alien invasion. There they must learn to deal with differences and the fact that the world can change forever.
For action lovers, the highlight is the premiere of Hire an assassin, remake of the 80s classic. This time, Jake Gyllenhaal takes on the role of the crazy fighter, playing a former MMA fighter who is removed from the Octagon due to his impulsive and violent behavior, having to move on as best you can. So he ends up in Florida and starts working as a bouncer in some bar. But, in the best Farofa action movie style, this is just the starting point for a plot full of criminals and a man who isn’t afraid to solve all his problems with one punch.
Using pastel tones in cinematography and praised art direction, the film featured Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks. And speaking of famous actors, The rock star Black Adam, a DC film that has greatly divided opinion. While critics criticized the story, rating it with just 38% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, the general public praised the special effects and action scenes, and the film achieved an approval rating by 88%.
Finally, other news to keep an eye on concerns horror The Curse of Queen Mary released in theaters last year, the action film High speed train with Brad Pitt, the last season of the Mexican series Game Las Llaves with the singer of RebelMaite Perroni and the first season of Tales of the walking dead, a spin-off of the original. Remembering that these are not the only news of the streaming month. Want to know what else is coming? Check out the full list below.
