French crime stories never cease to invade the small screen. Whether the projects are in the form of documentaries or mini-series, great surprises are not uncommon.
The latest example: Sambre, a powerful fiction on France 2 in November 2023, about a series of rapes and sexual assaults that took place in the north of France over 30 years – AlloCiné en became one of the favorites of the year. .
A series of murders
In this wave of projects, Disney+ announces Les Disparues de la gare. The news broke at the Series Mania festival, which ends today in Lille. Created by Gaëlle Bellan – creator of La Promesse and screenwriter of Le Bureau des Legendes and Engrenages – the project focuses on a series of three murders and disappearances that took place near Perpignan station between 1995 and 2001.
The victims are four women between the ages of 17 and 23. The circumstances of their disappearance followed a very specific operating procedure that led authorities to track down a serial killer. Two weeks after the last murder in 2001, a man, Father, was arrested. He confesses that he killed the last woman, Fatima Idrahu.
An unsolved disappearance
Thirteen years later, DNA tests revealed another man, also the father, who confessed to two other murders, the 1997 murder of Mokhtaria Chaib and the 1998 murder of Marie-Hélène Gonzalez.
The specifics of this story remain in the unexplained disappearance of the first victim, Tatiana Andujar, whose body was never found.
The cast includes Camille Razat, Hugo Becker, Patrick Timsit, Melanie Dutt, Kevin Azais and Yannick Koirat. The project is headed by Route Productions, the producer of HPI, which has just started filming.
