Lucas Córdova tried to stand, but lost consciousness and fell to the ground during a web broadcast
On Wednesday (20th), four communicators from the program “Dupla em Debate – Prorogação” were discussing football in the Grenal radio studio, in Porto Alegre, when the journalist Lucas Córdova, who was participating remotely via video transmission, fell ill.
“What this, what this, what this, what this? Lucas passed out out there, man,” one commenter warned. “We continue, people are there to help him,” said another journalist.
Lucas was outside the South Summit, an event in the historic center of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. The strong sun combined with the intense heat negatively affected the young reporter’s health. That day the temperature in the city reached 35°.
On social media several people criticized the attitude of colleagues who were in the air-conditioned studio. They signaled a lack of empathy. “My God, they continued as normal. One was even annoyed and the other was simply indifferent,” criticized TikToker Marilise Vieira.
“There should be an umbrella for him,” Vander Oliveira suggested. “I think it’s really unfair that journalists have to stand in the hot sun. Sensitivity is missing,” wrote Mônica Santos.
Speaking to the Coletiva.net portal, Lucas Córdoba explained that he didn’t have time to eat that day. I just had black coffee in my stomach. After being rescued, the journalist improved, but he fainted again while being transported in an ambulance.
Once he recovered, he took a few days off to take care of his health.
