PT President Gleisi Hoffmann said the preventive arrest of three suspects of ordering the 2018 murder of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes is a milestone in the fight against political violence and type. By order of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), the Federal Police launched on the morning of this Sunday 24th, Operation Murder Inc, which also executed 12 search and seizure warrants in Rio de Janeiro related to the crime.

According to the Fausto Macedo Blog, MP Chiquinho Brazão (União-RJ), his brother Domingos, councilor of the Court of Auditors of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and the former head of the Rio Civil Police Rivaldo Barbosa were arrested. The three are suspected of being the perpetrators of the crime. The person who authorized the arrest operation was Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, who recently dealt with the Marielle case.

May all those involved in the crime, which also killed Anderson, be reported and prosecuted. The arrest of the suspects came after the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, announced the approval of the plea deal of the former military police officer Ronnie Lessa, identified as responsible for the murders, in March 2018. The case was federalized and came under the responsibility of the STF after Lessa cited MP Chiquinho Brazão, who has privileged jurisdiction.
