Three gunmen attempted to attack a police station in the Nor-Nork district of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on Sunday, the Armenian Interior Ministry said.
According to initial information, two of the three men were injured when the grenades they were carrying exploded, the ministry said.
The third man was still outside the police station with a grenade.
Russian state news agency TASS said the head of the Armenian police force was on site to conduct negotiations with the man.
The Interfax news agency reported Sunday, citing local media, that the gunmen may belong to the Combat Brotherhood organization, of which around 50 members had been arrested earlier in the day.
The organization later denied reports of its involvement, saying it had nothing to do with the incident, Sputnik Armenia reported.
