Palmeiras have a great record at the Allianz knockout stage in the Abel era

Verdão returns to the stadium after two months, to face Novorizontino, earning a place in the final of the Campeonato Paulista

After two months Palmeiras will return to Allianz Parque. Verdão will face Novorizontino, this Thursday (28th), in the semi-final of the Campeonato Paulista in their stadium. The return to the home of Alviverde not only conveys a feeling of relief, but of security, given that the team has achieved great success there, in knockout matches since Abel Ferreira took over.

Since the coach’s arrival, Verdão has decided 23 knockout matches at the stadium. Ultimately, the match ended 18 times with Palmeiras classified or champions. Only on five occasions has he been eliminated.

Furthermore, under the leadership of Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras has never lost a knockout match against Paulista at home. The eliminations came in the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. So, if Verdão were to reach the decision, either with a victory in regular time or on penalties, it is certain that the second match of the final will be at Allianz Parque. Therefore, expectations are growing for the team to reach its third state championship.

Palmeiras finally returns to Allianz Parque

Allianz Parque had been closed since the end of January due to problems with the lawn at the end of last year. Real Arenas, responsible for maintaining the stadium, replaced the pitch using cork imported from Europe.

Before the inspection by the Federation of São Paulo, Palmeiras carried out tests with the youth teams. In this context the works approved the new flooring.

It is important to highlight that the synthetic grass remains the same, as it is still in perfect conditions of use. The only change was the replacement of the old thermoplastic compound with cork, due to melting caused by the heat and pollution of São Paulo, which, all in all, resulted in a sticky substance on the players’ shoes.
