Movie Quiz: You recognize Pierre Nini…but in which movie?

Last May saw the release of The Book of Solutions, the latest from Michel Gondry, a rather astute filmmaker making his twelfth feature since 2001’s The First Human Nature.

Her previous film Microbe and Gasoil dates back to 2015 (in the meantime, she tried her hand at the TV series Kidding, in which she reunited with actor Jim Carrey).

Headlining is the pairing of Blanche Garden and Pierre Nin, an actor who will soon be seen playing Edmond Dantes, the much-anticipated Count of Monte Cristo.

Directed by Alexandre de la Patellier and Mathieu Delaporte (first name, best yet), the adventure film is set for release on June 24, and its trailer has been available for weeks.

A dream collaboration

The Book of Decisions is the first collaboration between Pierre Nin and Michel Gondry. However, the two men already rubbed shoulders years ago: in fact, the actor chose the director in 2012 as the godfather of the Revelations evening, organized annually by the Cesar Academy for promising young actors and actresses.

With The Book of Decisions, Michel Gondry makes Mark’s character his alter ego and draws inspiration from his own life: “Just before I made Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I filled a notebook with all the problems that arose in human nature. Then I wrote down all the solutions to those problems. The character that Pierre Nin plays is about 70% me.” (excerpt from an interview given to “Premier” magazine, n°543).

The Book of Decisions was filmed in June and July 2022, mainly in Saint-Sauveur-Camprié and Vilmany, Garde. The supernumeraries were local, and half of the technical crew were local.
