Netflix: What do Ghostbusters and Millie Bobby Brown’s Dragon have in common?

The Lady and the Dragon starring Millie Bobby Brown is still dominating Netflix’s ratings. In this heroic fantasy blockbuster, the Stranger Things star plays Elodie, a young woman from a poor family and promised to a prince.

The fairy tale turns into a real nightmare when the heroine realizes that she is in the heart of a trap. To pay off the debt, the royal family sacrifices a terrible dragon to the princesses.

A unique voice

For much of the film, the character finds himself alone in the presence of a creature… that talks. The voice of the monster is provided by Iranian actress Shohre Aghdashlo. The actor appeared in many series – 24, The Expanse, The Flight Attendant – and many films – Star Trek Unlimited, X-Men: The Last Stand.

Apart from his unique life journey – he left the country after the Iranian revolution – Shohre Aghdashloo’s uniqueness lies in his voice. It’s serious, deep, engaging and, to say the least, disturbing. This is not the first time the actor has voiced characters on screen.

He voiced Grayson in the Netflix series Arcane, Gosher in Ghostbusters: Legacy, and often lends his voice to characters in video games such as Destiny or Assassin’s Creed.

Meet Patrick Tatopoulos, the special effects artist who created the dragon:

Part of the dark tone we bring to the film comes from the dragon’s voice– says Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of AlloCiné. The other day, at the premiere in New York, I was in the middle of the audience, and I stepped away from the role of the filmmaker a little bit to immerse myself in the emotions of the audience. And I really felt that the voice of the dragon signaled a big change in atmosphere and story.”

Shohre Aghdashlo’s voice oscillates between temptation and fearhe continues. It is this duality that makes the character of the dragon so mysterious and interesting..”
