Corinthians won, in an unprecedented way, the South American Master Rowing Championship with a total of 211 medals, 126 of which were gold. The feat, which gave the club its first international title in this sport, saw the participation of over 100 athletes who rowed on seven different types of boats.
In an unprecedented way in the history of this club sport, the Corinthians Master Rowing team took 1st place in the South American Championship held in Chile, between 21 and 24 March. The competition featured more than 100 athletes who rowed seven different types of boats to secure the title for SC Corinthians Paulista.
With discipline and training at the University of São Paulo, the team won the championship with 126 gold, 55 silver and 30 bronze medals, for a total of 211 medals, followed by Chilean clubs Estrella Blanca and Desportivo Alemán . In total, the competition brought together five countries, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, with a total of 22 clubs and more than 400 rowers, who competed in races over four days.
For Dorival Solera Torres, director of rowing at Corinthians, this result represents a lot for the team. “We committed to training with a very intense routine. We arrived in Chile believing in the potential of the whole team and here we are! Furthermore, this is the first time that Remo Master brings home an international title.” As for Giovanni M. Cardoso, co-founder of Mondial and AIWA and Master rower of Corinthians, “an interesting point of this achievement, in addition to the feeling of having achieved something totally unexpected by the opponents, was what we outlined on the 6th January, 2024, in a meeting, a plan with responsibilities, dates and objectives, including signed minutes, something that good business management brought to sports management and which worked very well. We achieved the goal!”.
Present at Corinthians since 1926, rowing is one of the amateur sports of the Sao Paulo club and attracts athletes of different age groups. With the recent result, the Remo Master team aims to attract even more visibility to this sport.
