Still in development, Seal will alert you when a community X (formerly Twitter) has adult content
OX (ex-Twitter) should get an indicator to alert you that a community has adult content. This is what two researchers underlined, who found and leaked the imprints of the NSFW seal (Not safe for the workplace, in free translation), an acronym generally used to warn that it is pornographic content that should not be seen in public.
The new configuration, if development is completed, will be present in the Communities, a type of group that brings together the publications of people interested in the same topic and without bringing the tweets into the general timeline. However, only X Premium subscribers can create new collective conversations on the social network.
NSFW community on X
The news was first discovered in February by independent app researcher Nima Owji, and then by fellow researcher Daniel Buchuck of the consultancy Watchful. In both cases, communities with the flag enabled displayed the “Adult content” label in their descriptions.
Buchuck also shared screenshots of the resource’s setup with TechCrunch. In the images you can see the “Adult content (NSFW)” option, which is used to activate the seal on the group’s profile.

“You must enable this setting if your community contains adult content,” the tool’s description states. “Omitting this will result in automatic filtering of all adult-sensitive content in your community.”
Despite the leak, it’s still unclear whether the setting will only affect the community description, show the adult content label, or hide the group recommendation in the timeline and other areas of the social network.

In addition to filtering, the seal serves as a warning to people outside the group and helps prevent minors and people not interested in the topic from accessing the content. This is the case with pornography and other types of publications (which, we hope, do not violate any laws) prohibited for minors.
However, there is still no official information regarding the implementation of the new alert. The expectation is that the NSFW seal will appear on the social network in the coming months. Furthermore, X has so far not commented on the future configuration.
