Liverpool beat Brighton and take the lead in English

Striker Mohamed Salah scored the winning goal as Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1, taking them provisionally top of the English Championship ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Arsenal this Sunday.

Salah’s fine second-half goal took Liverpool to 67 points, three clear of second-placed Arsenal and four clear of City on a crucial day in the title race.

The Egyptian striker tormented Brighton, scoring 12 times on target and recording the most shots in a single Premier League match, although only one of them found the back of the net, which was crucial to the result .

Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead 84th second into the match after his team stopped a Liverpool attack and counter-attacked, finding him free inside the area. Caoimhin Kelleher had no chance and Brighton took the lead.

The opening goal brought Liverpool back to life and Luis Diaz equalized in the 27th minute, after Joel Veltman tried to clear the ball, failed and the Colombian winger showed opportunism to take advantage of the opportunity and score.

Liverpool’s suffocating pressure and incisive attack once again paid off as Alexis Mac Allister set up Salah for the decisive goal.

Diaz could have given the Reds even more of an advantage six minutes later, but his goal was disallowed for offside, later confirmed by VAR.
