The biggest name in Brazilian gymnastics was overtaken by France’s Melanie Jesus
Rebeca Andrade won the silver medal in the uneven bars final at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, in Antalya, Turkey, this Sunday (31). The Brazilian overcame a flaw, avoided a fall and finished the race in second place.
Rebeca achieved a score of 14.037, behind only France’s Melanie Jesus, who achieved 14.567. At the World Championships, the Brazilian competed only on the unsymmetrical bars, saving herself on the other three apparatus: vault, floor exercise and beam.

With a strong performance on the uneven bars, the gymnast performed very well on the apparatus and placed second, scoring 14,067 points.

During the presentation, Rebeca made a very smart move, realizing that she might fall during one of the stunts. The Brazilian changed exercises, she saved herself from falling from the machine and, despite other elements, she managed to finish the presentation on a good note and with silver.
In 2023, the Brazilian was champion in the vault, silver in the floor exercise and bronze in the beam, she was also silver in the individual all-around and helped Brazil finish second in the team. At the Olympics, therefore, Rebeca will arrive with the possibility of medals on all devices.
