Manchester United idol criticizes Manchester City’s Haaland

Roy Keane says the Norwegian centre-forward needs to improve and compares him to a fourth division athlete

Center forward Erling Haaland failed to put in a good performance in Manchester City’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal last Sunday at the Etihad Stadium in the 30th round of the Premier League. The athlete’s performance attracted criticism from Roy Keane, Manchester United’s idol, currently a commentator. The former midfielder compared the Norwegian to a player from the fourth division of English football due to his way of playing.

– In front of goal he is the best in the world, but his overall game for such a player is very poor. Not just today. It has to improve. He looks like a League Two player, that’s how I look at him. His game in general needs to improve and that will happen in the next few years. Keane said on the “Sky Sports” channel.

Roy Keane has been involved in controversies with the Manchester City athlete’s family in the past. Then a Manchester United midfielder, the Irishman made a tackle and ended the career of Alf-Inge Haaland, Erling’s father, in 2001. At the time, the former Red Devils player claimed he had taken revenge for a challenge from his opponent in 1997, which put him out of action for the rest of the season.

Against Arsenal, Erling Haaland only touched the ball 23 times and failed to even have a shot on target. In the current season, his second with Manchester City, the Norwegian has played 35 games, 34 of which as a starter. The center forward scored 29 goals and provided six assists for his teammates to score goals.

Just like last season, Erling Haaland is trying to lead Manchester City to the FA Cup, the English Championship and the Champions League.
