Tricolor has an agreement with the airline and will avoid stopovers and travel efforts during the continental competition
São Paulo will travel to Córdoba this Wednesday (03). After all, on Thursday (04), the team will face Talleres, at the Mário Kempes Stadium, at 9pm, in the first round of Group B of the Copa Libertadores. And, for this trip, the Tricolor will make its first international flight under the charter contract that the club has signed with an airline.
The agreement with the company was signed in January and is valid for two years. São Paulo has used its own “plane” to make longer flights out of the state, as in the case of the Supercopa Rei do Brasil, when the team traveled to Belo Horizonte.
This will also be the case when the team faces Barcelona, in Guayaquil, at the end of the month, or Cobresal, in Chile, at the beginning of May. The agreement is considered a success as it avoids further erosion of the delegation. After all, players often spend more than a dozen hours traveling on connections before arriving at their final destination. This often affects athletes, who almost never have adequate recovery time.
According to the schedule, the Tricolor Paulista will train this Wednesday morning at the CT da Barra Funda. After the activity, you will travel in the afternoon. The return is scheduled immediately after the match against Talleres.
This gives São Paulo more control over setting travel times, which makes planning easier for the technical committee. Additionally, the food served to athletes on flights is monitored by the club’s nutrition team.
