Pierre Goldman, the face of far-left activism championed by Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone Signore, and other cultural luminaries, is an intellectual who turned to gangsterism in the 1970s.
Convicted at first instance of criminal imprisonment for a robbery, one of which left two victims, the man, who is the older half-brother of a certain Jean-Jacques Goldman, was in the spotlight during his second trial.
It was the latter, which occurred between November 1975 and May 1976, for four armed robberies, including one that resulted in the deaths of two pharmacists. The Goldman trial come back.

“It’s not his innocence that stands out for me, it’s his language, extraordinary. His style, his dialectic, his thinking. I tell myself that we have to do something with this book, in cinema.”says the director, who rejected the idea of a biopic to concentrate on the trial.
