Highlight moment of the season, the Italian dominated the sprint race of the Australian GP; Raúl Fernandez and Acosta complete the top-3.
SIMPLY THE BEZ! In the early hours of this Saturday (18th), Marco Bezzecchi achieved victory in the sprint race of the Australian Grand Prix, achieving his second consecutive triumph in the short races. The Italian, who remains firmly in contention for third place in the championship, will start from second place in the main race. However, he will have to serve a two-lap penalty due to the accident with Marc Márquez in Mandalika. Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse) and Australian Jack Miller completed the podium at Phillip Island.
How did the race go?
Author of the pole, Quartararo didn’t start very well and was swallowed up by the riders, Miller also started from third position. Raul Fernandez, however, started well and jumped into the lead. Alex Márquez flew and placed second, but Bezzecchi arrived immediately behind him and was soon overtaken.
One of the highlights at the start of the race was Enea Bastianini who did not qualify well, but by the third lap he had already moved up seven positions.
Meanwhile, a curious dispute was taking place: Aprilia against “Aprilia”, the official team dueling with the satellite. Bezzecchi was preparing to overtake Raul Fernández, but ended up making a mistake after being caught by a seagull that crossed his path. The distraction made him open the curve too much and allowed the group to get dangerously close.
On lap nine Marco Bezzecchi closed in on Raul and started to drag the boat into Turn 2, eventually managing to overtake Raúl and take the lead. In the end the fight for the third final was exciting and was between Pedro Acosta, Jack Miller and Diggia, with the Spaniard coming out on top.
