The revelation was made by screenwriter Stuart Beattie, who is credited on the series and wrote the script for what the film was to be.

The series Obi-Wan Kenobi was initially developed as a film trilogybut the plans for the story changed after low financial return in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The revelation was made by Stuart Beati in an interview with The Direct website released on Monday 27. He is credited as a screenwriter on four of the series’ six episodes, but told the vehicle that he only wrote the script for what would be the first film in the plot.
“I wrote the film that they based the series on. I spent about a year, a year and a half working on it. So when they decided they wouldn’t be shooting spin-off films afterwards. [Han] It just came out, I left the project and kept doing other things, ”said Beattie.
he said it Job Haroldproducer and screenwriter of Obi-Wan Kenobi, transformed the original scripts from a two-hour to a six-hour product. “I didn’t work with them. I only got the credit because it was all mine,” she added.
Beattie said she had planned the story of the trilogy and pitched the idea Lucasfilmmanager of the franchise Star Wars. “It would be three stories, because there are three different evolutions that the character has to go through to go from Obi-Wan to Ben. The first was the first film, which became the series.”
The second film, according to him, would be a preparation of the character for the events of Star Wars: a new hope, when Obi-Wan sacrifices himself for Luke. For the screenwriter, it would be the stage where the character accepts his own mortality, which would explain his attitude in the 1977 film.
Beattie said Lucasfilm and Ewan McGregor, who plays the lead, agreed with the project and that everyone was excited to start production, until the release of Han Solo changed program.
“Personally, I like Solo, but I hadn’t made a lot of money,” he recalled. “Because it didn’t reach a certain number, they just had to rethink it. And again, this is on top of me, but it sure destroyed us.” [Foi] devastating, absolutely devastating “.
“But that’s the thing, ups and downs. I’m glad the series was made. I’m proud my story was told,” concluded the writer.
