Seven years after Planet of the Apes: Supremacy, the final part of the Andy Serkis-led trilogy, the evolved primates are preparing to return to cinema.
Directed by Wes Ball, to whom we owe the film adaptation of the dystopian novels, Labyrinth, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom takes place 300 years after Caesar’s adventures. The latter also became a symbol for other primates.
In this new opus, the apes have finally gained power, while the humans have returned to the wild and lived in the background. While a new tyrannical leader gradually builds his empire, Noah, a young ape, befriends May, a young girl. He then embarks on a perilous journey that will lead him to question everything he knows about the past and make choices that will determine the future of apes and humans…

Monkey training camp
And in order to be believable in their roles, the actors underwent rigorous training. When the trailer was released, the director told us about it:We asked our actors to take some training courses to become the best monkey ever. They studied in a “monkey boot camp”: they had to wear monkey suits and really get into the skin. It was a tense moment for them. We also worked with a Cirque du Soleil artist to train our actors and choreograph their movements. After all, you can’t act like a monkey, you have to become a monkey !”
Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom It will be released in theaters on May 8.
