You miss the golden days when Game of Thrones was the show that defined the 2010s and set a new standard for heated discussions in the age of social media. And now that the HBO series is over, can’t you see yourself in The 3-Body Problem, DB Weiss and David Benioff’s new creation? Don’t lose hope!

Based on Liu Cixin’s Chinese novel, the ambitious sci-fi series marks Benioff and Weiss’ first major project for Netflix after signing an exclusivity deal with the broadcaster in 2019. And although on the surface, The 3-Body Problem is very different. From Game of Thrones, it’s actually pretty close.

What exactly does this ominous phrase mean for our future? Nothing good, because the Sun-ti are an extraterrestrial civilization that will travel through space for 400 years to conquer Earth and destroy its inhabitants like insects under their shoes. The Netflix series takes the exact same premise as the HBO series: the apocalypse is coming, get ready!
