When we talk about the heroes of the Star Wars universe, the name of Lando Calrissian does not take long on the lips of fans. A smuggler turned “Baron Administrator” of the cloud city of Bespin, we first meet Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back when the heroes come to him for help.

The character’s youth was explored in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Donald Glover, but his original voice, Billy Dee Williams, reappeared in live-action Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. And most recently, he was asked a question that has plagued many fans since 1980.

Podcast guest Inside You with Michael RosenbaumThe actor had to answer this thorny question:How did Lando get into Han Solo’s costume at the end of The Empire Strikes Back?“What he succinctly voiced: “They are lovely.”

Obviously a joke to avoid a question that is pretty well covered. Because after Han Solo sells out to Darth Vader, causing him to be frozen in carbonite, Lando frees himself from the resistance and ends the movie at the control point of the Millennium Falcon next to the faithful Chewbacca, clearly wearing Solo’s suit!

Solo vs. Lando

In other words, after he was “betrayed” and then “borrowed” the ship, he apparently helped the most famous galactico in the smuggler’s wardrobe! Thus we recognize the same vest with front pockets and possibly the same shirt… What a liar, that Lando Calrissian!

Perhaps only the Star Wars saga is the source of such precise questions, and yet… the fact that Calrissian might have stolen his clothes from Han Solo fits well with the character’s mentality and George Lucas and his director Irwin Kershner. He wanted to present it on the screen… he was successful!
