The Brazilian under-23 football team for the blind drew 0-0 against Argentina’s youth team, a result that did not qualify the country for the Copa Tango final. With two points from three matches, Brazil is third in the overall standings, just behind the rival Under-23 team, which will face “Argentina A” in the title decider. The Brazilians, however, will fight for the bronze medal, against Argentina B, this Saturday (6), at 9.00.

In Friday’s duel, Brazil needed a victory to make a decision. With Lucas Caetano injured, the coach sent goalkeeper Gean Patrick onto the field, as well as Paulinho, Rayan, Carlinhos and Anael. The visitors, who had defeated the same Argentine Under-23 team in the final of the Parapan de Jovens de Bogotá-2023, had the best chance of the match with a shot from Anael that touched both goalkeeper posts and did not go in.

Brazil sent a young team to Buenos Aires, with the aim of training the kids and sparing the adult team. The main team remains focused on preparing for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where they will seek their sixth title. To date, the Brazilians are the only champions since the sport was included in the Athens 2004 Paralympic program.

The last time the Tango Cup for blind football was held two years ago, when the Brazilians won the title. This is the fifth edition, the third with the participation of Brazil, also champion in 2019.
