The top ten state champions were announced on Saturday, including five from the national elite: Grêmio, Atletico-PR, Criciúma, Ceará AND Cuiabá. Six more champions will be announced on Sunday: from Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Goiás.
In Paraná, Atletico-PR easily beat Maringá, 3-0, and became back-to-back champions. In total it has 28 titles, behind only Coritiba, with 39.
Criciúma drew 1-1 against Brusque and, winning the first match 2-1, won its 12th cup, drawing with Joinville and behind Figueirense and Avaí, both with 18. Criciúma is a two-time champion.
In Mato Grosso, Cuiabá won again, 1-0, against União Rondonópolis and won its 13th title. Furthermore, he was a four-time champion for the first time in his history, something that only Mixto, the greatest champion, with 24 cups, achieved twice, in 1954 and 1982.
The day also saw other traditional teams on the pitch. CRB were champions of Alagoas for the 34th time, winning 3-1 in ASA. In Pernambuco, Sport played a goalless draw against Náutico and won the top spot in the state for the 44th time. They had won the first match 2-0.
Two more teams became champions after a long time. União Araguainense defeated Tocantinópolis and won their second Campionato Tocantinense title after 30 years. At home they won again 2-1, same score as the first leg. Ceilândia won the Federal District for the third time by beating Capital on penalties (4-3) after a goalless draw. The last title dates back to 2012.
Altos got the better of Parnahyba on penalties (4–3) after a goalless draw in regulation time and won their fourth Piauí Championship title. The last time was in 2021.
