Attention 2000s teenagers, Netflix has bad news! One of the iconic French films that celebrated an entire generation of teenagers during the MSN era will soon leave the platform. This heartwarming comedy, now nostalgic for Asadi’s Generation X, grossed over 3.5 million at the box office upon its release.
Inspired by the French comedies of the 80s, this feature film brought parents and children together at the cinema and offered a La Boum-style work of its time. And like Sophie Marceau at the time, this film featured a lot of young talent, including Pierre Nin!
Pierre Nin made his debut in this iconic film!
For Yves Saint Laurent, the César-winning actor is one of the main faces of French cinema. Many loved him in comedies like Five, the new OSS 117 or The Flame, but also in dramas like Save or Perish, Black Box or Goliath.
Krista Terrett and Pierre Nin in “LOL”.
But the one we will find very soon in the Netflix series Fiasco and the movie The Count of Monte Cristo started in teenage comedies like Our 18 Years, but especially this feature film that will unfortunately soon leave the Netflix catalog: LOL (laughs out loud).
Pierre Nini starred in this Lisa Azuelos comedy with Krista Terres, Sophie MarceauAlexandre Astier, Jocelyn Quiverin, Felix Moat and Francois Fabian.
LOL It’s the story of a teenager who is betrayed by his girlfriend, in conflict with his mother, and struggling in high school. But with a little reading, dialogue and a lot of love, Lola experiences a year full of upheavals. But it’s also the story of a lost mother who secretly sees her children’s father and is flirted with by a policeman.
Thanks to the plight of this young woman and her mother, Lisa Azuelos portrays a certain idea of youth, often very accurate but quite limited, sometimes with a few clichés, but so exciting and entertaining.
With a clever soundtrack, between the Rolling Stones, Blur, Pink Martini and even Keane, LOL is quite representative of its time with endearing characters we can identify with.
And unfortunately for you 2000s teenagers, you only have one week left to LOL on Netflix.
Movie LOL (laughs out loud) Leaves the Netflix catalog on April 14.
