Ana Azevedo wins gold in the 200 meters of the Challenge in Uruguay

Brazil on the podium! This Sunday afternoon (7), two Brazilian women were crowned in the Hugo La Nasa Athletics Challenge, in Uruguay. Ana Carolina Azevedo and Vitória Rosa took 1st and 3rd place respectively in the 200 meters.




On the slopes, Ana Azevedo and Vitória Rosa remained dominant. They competed in the Final A 200m race of the Hugo La Nasa Challenge, and finished in the top places of the podium. Ana won gold with a time of 23.48 seconds, while Vitória Rosa won bronze, clocking 23.97 seconds. Additionally, Argentina’s María Lamboglia scored 23.78 and finished with silver.

It is worth mentioning that the two Brazilian athletes also shared the podium in the 100 meters. The dispute took place yesterday (6), at the Challenge WA José de Zubiau, in Uruguay. On that occasion, the Brazilians ran side by side, but Ana Azevedo won with 11s42, while Vitória Rosa won silver with 11s48. As in this Sunday’s race, Argentine María Lamboglia also completed the podium, with a time of 11.68 and a bronze medal.

Olympic ranking

The two Brazilian runners are fighting for a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. So far neither has reached the Olympic index to guarantee a place in Paris. However, both are in the qualification zone for the Olympics (56 places). In the 100 meters, Vitória Rosa occupies the 21st position, while Ana Azevedo is in 46th.

In the 200 meters, in turns, there will be 48 spaces. Ana Azevedo is in 23rd place and has a great chance of qualifying for the Olympic Games. “This was my first 200m race this year. I’m training to reach the Olympic index, going to the Paris Games would be another step in my career, it would be a dream.” Anna commented.
