How many movies did you see in theaters last year? maybe a lot But certainly not like Zach Swope. This 32-year-old American movie buff, originally from Pennsylvania and suffering from Asperger’s syndrome, saw 777 movies in theaters in one year from July 2022 to July 2023.

He started his challenge on July 5, 2022. its purpose? Watch a record number of movies in theaters to raise awareness for autism and suicide prevention. “I’m a suicide survivor and I’ve lost people I cared about because of it.” he explainedBecause he received a diploma of record recorded in the Guinness book.

Prohibition of sleeping, drinking or eating

Apart from work, he used to watch 16 to 17 movies a week, especially on weekends. Zach Swope set strict rules for himself: he had to watch every movie in its entirety, and no sleeping, drinking, eating or checking his phone was allowed. The cinema staff made sure that they did not violate these terms. Fortunately for him and his wallet, he also had a monthly subscription card for unlimited access to the rooms.

In his (very) long marathon, he watched the Super Mario movie 35 times. Thor: Love and Thunder? 33 times. Puss in Boots: The Last Quest, which was one of his favorite movies of the year, he saw 47 times.

With this record, Zach Swope has largely unseated the incumbent since 2015. In this case, a Frenchman named Vincent CroneHe was 29 years old then. From March 23, 2017 to March 22, 2018, he watched 715 movies.

If he didn’t reach his goal of watching 800 movies, he’s still giddy. And it does not prevent him from breaking his own record in the not too distant future.
