Tear Maker on Netflix: The movie is number 1, but is it worth 103 minutes of your precious time?

It’s the #1 movie right now on Netflix: an Italian melodrama adapted from a bestseller written by Erin Dom and published in 2021, which was first a Wattpad success story.

This one hour and 43 minute feature film, not recommended for people under 13, tells the complicated love story between two characters who have been tortured and forever linked by childhood trauma.

What is “tear maker” about?

Directed by Alessandro Genovese, Fabbricante di lacrime (original version) is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, sold over 500,000 copies in Italy in 2002. This Italian romantic film tells the story of Nika (Caterina Ferioli). and Rigel (Simon Baldasseron), two teenagers placed in an orphanage since childhood.

This institution, the Tomb, is run by Margaret Stoker (Sabrina Paravicini), who psychologically and physically abuses the residents of her institution.
