“I worked on Batman Begins (2005) a little distantly, but it was the only comic book my brother gave me as a child, Batman – Year Oneon my 14th birthday, and 10 years later I was on set working with him,” he said.

“Chris was on the fence about doing another one. I don’t think he wanted to become a superhero movie director,” he continued. “We spent an hour telling the origin story, and that’s great, but it’s like, ‘What [mais] can we do with this?’ Can we take the same characters and slightly shift to a different genre? Can we go from an adventure movie to a crime movie to a mob movie and bring that feeling to it?”
