My Little Reindeer: Don’t let its title fool you, this series will give you a lot of scares

The title of this series is misleading. No, this is not a program for children. On the contrary. My Little Reindeer – or Baby Reindeer in the original version – is nothing more than a nickname given to Richard Gad by his stalker. For years this Scottish comedian was followed and spied on by a woman he called “Martha”.

A very real nightmare

In just three years, she received more than 41,000 emails – 35 days -, 350 hours of voice mail, 106 pages of letters and countless gifts, each as strange as the last.

With this injury, the comedian did one scene in England, then a series intended for Netflix. Through seven episodes, he narrates this period of his life, playing the main role himself.

Donny Dunn is an actor struggling to break through on the stage. He works as a bartender to earn a living. Her daily life changes when a client posing as a lawyer befriends her.

Little does she know yet that these heartwarming exchanges will take another turn. Martha takes over his life and turns it into hell.

Jessica Gunning is great in “My Little Reindeer.”

It smells like experience!

At first glance, My Little Reindeer could pass for comedy. The Stalker character – brilliantly played by the very creepy Jessica Gunning – is so extravagant, with her very flowery language, that it makes you smile. The plot quickly takes a different turn and it doesn’t take long for the audience to figure it out.

Obviously, when faced with a story like this, we think of Rob Reiner’s Misery, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel that has Kathy Bates as an unruly fan. However, my little deer is based on experience.

Faced with the result, it’s hard not to feel it, on every level: actor-creator Richard Gaddy’s writing, details and interpretation have signed this one of the most amazing fictions of 2024.
