Blair Witch will get a new film from the Paranormal Activity producer

Classic of the found footage genre, Blair Witch will get a new film from Blumhouse, the production company responsible for franchises such as Supernatural, A crime night, Paranormal activity It is Halloween.

The news was announced during Lionsgate’s panel at CinemaCon, which runs until Thursday, April 11, in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. The information is from Variety.

In Blair Witch, released in 1999, three young filmmakers disappear when entering a forest in Maryland, in the northeast region of the United States, to investigate a local legend. Years later, the camera they used to record the film is found, revealing what happened to the group.

With a budget of between US$35,000 and US$60,000, the film became a success, mainly due to the homemade aspect of the production – which led many people to believe that the events of the production were real -, and raised almost US$250 million at the box office worldwide.

Due to the success, Blair Witch was revisited on two occasions: first in 2002, with Blair Witch 2: The Book of Shadowsand then in 2016, with Blair Witch. However, none of the sequels had the same success as the original film.
