The ghost hunt continues! From April 10, the new opus of the Ghostbusters saga is released in cinemas. Titled The Ice Menace, this episode is a direct sequel to Ghostbusters Legacy (2021).
We find the Spangler family returning to where it all began, the iconic New York fire station. They must team up with the original members of the Ghostbusters, who have created a secret research lab to take ghost hunting to the next level.
When the discovery of an ancient artifact sends an army of ghosts spreading ice menace across the city, two teams of Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.
Did this new installment of the iconic franchise convince the first audience? With a rating of 2.6 out of 5 (average of 254 ratings as of 14:00 on April 11), the feature film seems to be moderately appreciated. In fact, the majority of the 254 ratings are between 2 and 3 stars.
Better than the previous movie?
For Caramel2017, there is an ice threat “A very successful revival, much better than the previous opus! Fans of the original saga will appreciate this, I was amazed”he tells us.
modENASH1 also really appreciated the work: “I didn’t get bored watching the movie even for a second. I even wanted more. The actors are good and the movie is great.”
GaĆ«tan Blend invites “A film that speaks to nostalgic fans who like references to Ghostbusters but also other works. The team is friendly, both new and old.”
According to Francesco C. “This 4th opus is pretty successful. It’s a bit lacking in stressful scenes compared to the films of the time, though. The special effects are well done and there’s some nostalgia for the first films, which I liked. However, I guess it is. A little too sweet for my taste. Still, I had a great time.”
Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray
Is it conclusive?
While some were caught up in this new intrigue, others missed it, like Naughty Dog: “The film takes 1 hour 30 hours to deliver a plot that is ultimately too simple with a completely classic villain. The Ice Menace offers 1 or 2 nice sequences, but lacks any real scale/threat. Also, the desired family dynamic quickly falls by the wayside. .
The film lover also did not like the suggestion of director Gil Kenan: “Frankly disappointing latest Ghostbusters. A new movie that runs in a vacuum and reminds us that the license has nothing new to say. It’s too talky, too explanatory, and the prequels take forever. In short, we’re pleasantly bored.”
Does nostalgia work?
According to Shawn777, “The film isn’t objectively great, it remains very predictable entertainment with poorly constructed subplots like the story of a ghost being burned alive or the story of a famous firebender.”
Despite everything, we don’t necessarily have a bad time at that time; Some of the scenes remain enjoyable and then there’s still a little nostalgic side that comes into play.”
For reference, the previous part was rated 3.4 out of 5 by AlloCinƩ viewers. If you want to make up your own mind, The Ice Menace is currently playing in our cinemas.
