The two actors worked together on the ‘Harry Potter’ films for a decade
Daniel Radcliffe watched a video in which Alan Rickman praises him for the first time during participation in Happy Sad Confused (via Variety). The podcast host, Josh Horowitzshowed an excerpt from an interview with Rickman made in 2016, the year in which the actor passed away.
“As much as I was doing it for seven weeks, they were doing it for 52 weeks,” he said. Alan about the cast of Harry Potter. “That was their life from age 12 to 22,”
“Only in the last few years have I been able to sit in a cafe with my Daniel in New York. He was in one theater and I was in another. It was a great honor to see him in the musical [How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying]. How dare he dance as well as the New York dancers? He worked hard on it,” added Severus Snape’s interpreter.
“Thank you for showing this. I had never seen it. Thank you”, he thanked Radcliffe. Soon after, the actor who played Harry Potter revealed: “I was so intimidated by Alan Rickman. How could you not be for that voice?”
“Even hearing that voice, you forget how deep it is until it echoes through you. I was so intimidated by him in the first three movies. I was terrified of him and thought, ‘This guy hates me.’ he realized that I really wanted to do this and work on it,” he continued.
The impression of Daniel about what Alan Thoughts of him became increasingly positive as his growth progressed: “He cut short a vacation in Canada to come see me in Equus. He saw all my stage performances while he was alive.”
“He would take me out afterwards and we would talk about it. He was one of the first people to say, ‘You should look into voice lessons and look into all this’. I’m so lucky. Hearing him say that is really lovely. Thank you for letting me know. show it.”
