The Harry Potter actor was really afraid of Severus Snape’s translator! Podcast guest happy sad confused ( with the help of variety), Daniel Radcliffe responded to Alan Rickman’s tribute to him in 2015. After thanking the podcast host for showing the images, he returned to his collaboration with the actor who played Severus Snape alongside him in the eight Harry Potter films:

Alan Rickman scared me so much. How could it not be with this voice?

“Even hearing that voice, you almost forget it’s so low until it resonates with you. He scared me so much in the first three movies. He scared me and I was like, ‘He hates this guy.’ I had to do well and work.”

Time brought them closer

But Alan Rickman became close to Daniel Radcliffe, who was comforted by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and then in private a few years after the end of the magical saga:

“He cut short a vacation to Canada to see me play Equus. He’s seen every show I’ve ever played in his lifetime. Then he came to me and we talked about it. He was one of the first people to say, ‘You need to get a vocal coach and look into this. Everything.” I was very lucky.”

Alan Rickman died in January 2016 at the age of 69. She won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the Golden Globes for her role as Amy Rasputin in the miniseries Rasputin.
