After 7.5 million entries, Bridget Jones will return in 2025 for a 4th film… Who will be in the cast?

Bridget Jones is coming back soon! 8 years after the 3rd part of the saga, the crazy hero created by Helen Fielding will return in the 4th episode.

According to variety, Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson will reprise their roles as Bridget Jones, Daniel Cleaver, and Dr. Rowling. The film will be directed by Michael Morris, who replaces Sharon Maguire and Biban Kidron.

Newcomers to the franchise world will also appear: Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall. Variety also revealed the title of this 4th iteration of the iconic franchise: Mad About The Boy. Therefore, the story should follow the novel of the same name, which was published in 2013.

The story in Bridget Jones Baby was not adapted from a story written by the original author, Helen Fielding. Hugh Grant did not appear, but was mentioned. At the end of the film, we learn that Daniel’s character, who was supposed to die in the plane crash at the beginning of the story, has been found alive.

Where did Colin Firth go?

Fans of the saga who haven’t read the novels will be asking themselves the following question: why hasn’t Colin Firth, aka Mark Darcy, been announced in the casting for this 4th opus? It’s perfectly fine if filmmaker Michael Morris is adapting Mad about the boy.

In the book, Mark is dead and Bridget, now 53, is a widow. She is therefore a single mother to his two children, William and Mabel. At the instigation of her friends, Bridget loses weight and registers on dating sites.

The heroine gradually regains her confidence and begins a romantic relationship with Roxter (Leo Woodall), young man 29 years old. Then his morale rises. But is such a relationship sustainable? According to Variety , Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Recall that the franchise earned 760 million dollars at the worldwide box office in 3 films, which made Renee Zellweger a superstar. In France, the trilogy attracted 7.5 million viewers. Part 4 is set to begin filming in London next May.
