Parasite: the grey hit in the world
We have to admit that we expected it a little Parasite: the grey attracts people to Netflix. In addition to the fact that Korean series are very popular on the platform, we must add the fact that manga adaptations are currently in fashion. The last time for Netflix was with Yu Yu Hakusho. But the approach of this new show is quite original since it is not a simple live version of Parasite, but a new story that takes place in the same universe.
A profitable choice on the part of Yeon Sang-ho, the creator of the series known for directing it Last train to Busan then offered on the streaming service Jung_E AND Pact with hell. In fact, Parasite: the grey It quickly caught on in several countries, just a few days after it went online. Launched on April 5, the series topped for the first time 30 million hours viewed in just two days. A solid score that resulted in it entering the top 10 of the most watched non-English language series currently 68 countries.
Among these countries we obviously find South Korea, but also other Asian countries such as Japan and Vietnam, or even European countries such as Germany, Portugal, Italy and of course… France.
A good omen for a second season
The announced figures could motivate Netflix to order a season 2. At least that’s what the fans say Parasite: the grey which saw the first season end with a real surprise. In fact, at the very end of the last episode, a character called Shin’ichi Izumi appears. This is the hero of the original work. In the manga, the latter is a young high school student who sees a larva trying to enter his ear to fuse with his brain. But by placing his hand in opposition, he prevents the parasite from completing its fusion. Which then allows him to live with it. A bit like Jeong Su-in, the heroine of the Netflix series.
By introducing Izumi, Yeon Sang-ho has obviously kept the door open for a sequel. And even if he will have to wait for the green light from the streaming platform, the creator already has a plan for a possible season 2. To see if Netflix confirms it in the next few days.
