The legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been going on for years, but things got really bad when their Virginia libel case went to trial. With cameras in the courtroom, fans analyzed each image and created countless TikToks and testimonial memes. was finally the winner , and spent his time touring as a musician. Now Depp is heading to France to shoot his first film after Heard’s libel trial.

Before and during their deflation lawsuit, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard made several allegations of abuse against each other. And the careers of both actors have apparently suffered as a result, with Depp notably fired from his role as Grindelwald in the fantastic beasts franchising. But apparently things are looking for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, since he has been seen by TMZ trip to France for his next big movie.

Johnny Depp’s first role after the libel trial will be that of Louis XV in a movie called Joan of Barry. His lawyers were clear on how the trial went so Depp can clear his name and it will be fascinating to see how his career finally bounces back from this public legal battle. Before this role, there was his last major film interpretation Minamata. this project is coming to Hulu in July which also seems like another positive sign for this next step in his acting career.

As previously mentioned, Johnny Depp was notably fired from his role on The fantastic beasts franchise, after appearing in the first two episodes as the main antagonist Grindelwald. This came shortly after the actor lost his libel case against The Sun. He was suing the British publication for calling him a “wife beater”, but ultimately the judge ruled in The Sun’s favor. Soon after, Depp was asked to leave the role of Grindelwald, eventually replaced by Mads Mikkelsen for Dumbledore’s Secrets.

Given Johnny Depp’s long history as a character actor and his recent viral moments at court, all eyes will be on what he’ll do when he returns to the big screen as Louis XV in Joan of Barry.
