The team debuts with the victory in the Brazilian championship. The celestial team beat Botafogo 3-2, at Mineirão, with a goal at the end of the second half
In the final minutes, Cruzeiro scored the winning goal in their Brazilian championship opener. On Sunday evening, Raposa managed to overcome the Botafogo team and won 3-2, in Mineirão. Cruzeiro conceded the first goal, attempted a comeback, equalized and scored the winning goal in added time in the second half.
Anderson – The goalkeeper came in to replace Rafael Cabral, who is leaving the club. He managed to convey trust and security in this moment of pressure. He made a good save on striker Júnior Santos.
William – Participated a lot in Cruzeiro’s creations on the right wing and managed to keep Botafogo’s momentum at bay in his sector. He crowned his good performance with the assist for the goal that gave the team the victory.
Luca Silva – He acted with more freedom than in previous matches, attacking and closing spaces on the left of Celeste’s midfield. He scored Cruzeiro’s first goal, with a beautiful shot from the edge of the left-footed area.
Matteo Pereira – He was very involved in creating Raposa’s plays, playing in a more centralized way, like a typical 10. In the second half, he suffered an incorrect tackle from Botafogo defender Barboza, causing the defender to be sent off.
Rafa Silva – Replaced Dinenno, but played on the right wing of the Celestial attack, moving a lot and helping in the second half. Opportunisticly, he scored Cruzeiro’s winning goal in the second half.
Raffaele Elia – He replaced Rafa Silva, but playing as a center forward. Always with great intensity and desire, he scored the winning goal for the Cruzeiro team, after completing a cross from William.
