Recently, the murder of the von Richthofen couple at the behest of their daughter was revived in the media after the success of the trilogy The girl who killed my parents, from Prime Video. Feature films with protagonists Carla Diaz AND Leonardo Bittencourt They tell the story through versions of the main characters involved in the crime.

Far from fiction, the real case that shocked Brazil left even deeper marks on those who had no guilt or participation in the crime, but were directly affected by the double murder. Since his parents were killed by the Cravinhos brothers at the behest of his sister, Andreas has lived a difficult life and has chosen to remain secluded, away from the media.
It is precisely from him that Daniele asks for forgiveness for the crime in an open letter. Sentenced to 39 years in prison for the murder of Manfred von Richthofen, he admitted his desire to get closer to his former brother-in-law, now 36 years old.
The two are neighbors
AO Globo, Suzane von Richthofen’s ex-boyfriend said that she had a friendly relationship with Andreas before the accident and that, therefore, she always tries to get closer to the boy. He also revealed that the two live very close to each other.
“We are neighbors in São Roque. My farm is three kilometers from yours. I would like to ring your doorbell, but I fear your reaction,” Daniel writes in the letter. Today Andreas lives on a farm 450 kilometers from São Paulo.

Manfred’s killer fears that the victim’s son will feel threatened by his presence. According to him, Andreas also filed a police report when Suzane tried to find him. If his brother reports him, Daniel could be forced to return to prison. Since 2017 he has been serving his sentence in an open regime. The brother of Cristian Cravinhos he is expected to be freed from his sentence only in 2041.
Difficult attempt at rapprochement
Despite his fears, Daniel admits that he has already tried to talk to Andreas. A mutual friend mediated an initial conversation, which ultimately did not develop. This is because Suzane’s brother would have been shocked just by hearing the voice of his father’s killer on the phone.
“I would like to talk to you and express my feelings, but I will understand if you prefer not to look me in the face,” Daniel says in the letter. Once again, he wonders in an outburst: “If you will, I would like to have the opportunity to talk in person, face to face, and open my heart.”
Before Daniel’s attempts to contact him, Andreas himself had already sought out his sister to talk to. In 2017 he arranged a dinner with Suzane via messages. However, the meeting did not happen. On the way to her home in Angatuba, São Paulo, the younger von Richthofen decided to return home.
That same week, Andreas was seen disoriented on the streets of the Chácara Monte Alegre neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo. He was taken to an addiction treatment clinic after he jumped the wall of a house and was caught by police officers.
In the letter addressed to him, Daniel says that he has had a difficult life after the crime and underlines the consequences that his actions have generated in Andreas’ life. “It is with all sincerity and humility that I ask for your mercy. I am willing to face the consequences of my actions and do everything in my power to try to repair the harm I have caused you,” he argues.

“Dear Andrea,
After seven years of reflection, I finally find the courage to write to you. I am worried about your possible reaction after reading this letter. I recently heard about you through mutual friends and the press, which led me to make the decision to express how I feel.
My mind is in turmoil because my deepest desire is to have your forgiveness. Words can barely express the intensity of my anguish and remorse. My hands shake as I write and each line is a battle against the ghosts of the past.
For two decades, since that fateful day, I have carried the weight of remorse and guilt, knowing that my actions had brought such tragedy into our lives. I always thought of you, the biggest victim of everything that happened. Today, when I ride my motorbike, the image of your face comes to mind. How wonderful it would be to have you by my side, racing on a motorbike. Remember the cell phone we built together?
We are neighbors in São Roque. My farm is three kilometers from yours. I would like to ring your bell, but I fear your reaction. I’m deathly afraid that you might feel threatened by my presence. Furthermore, I know that society only sees me as your father’s killer. And you? How do you see me beyond this?
I was released from prison in 2017 after losing 17 years of freedom. But you have lost much more than me. I want to understand your pain and be part of it. I remember the day of the simulated reproduction carried out at your house two weeks after the crime, when you hugged Cristian and looked at me with emotion. When we were about to hug, the police didn’t let us. I interpreted his gesture of affection as forgiveness. However, you were just a teenager. Today you are a grown man. I would like to talk to you and express my feelings.
Since I got out of prison, I have rebuilt my life, as has Suzane, his sister. In fits and starts, Cristian also tries to start again. Yet the guilt continues to haunt me. Part of my family rejects me and I feel like an accusing finger is constantly pointed at me, reminding me of what I did. This guilt will not disappear with the sentence that sentenced me to 39 years. He will remain with me until the end of my days.
I hope, from the bottom of my soul, that you find the compassion in your heart to forgive me. I know my words may seem insufficient given the magnitude of what happened, but it is with all sincerity and humility that I ask for your mercy. I am willing to face the consequences of my actions and do everything in my power to try to repair the enormous damage I have caused you. If you allow, I would like to have the opportunity to talk in person, face to face, and open my heart.”
