The Italian government assured on Thursday (18) that the G7 Finance Ministers reiterated their “total and convinced support for Ukraine” during a meeting in Washington as part of the work of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Giorgetti explained that Italy, which holds the rotating presidency of the G7, has invited Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko to join its G7 counterparts in Stresa, Piedmont, from May 23 to 25.
Furthermore, he added, the economic representatives of the G7 countries promised “maximum coordination on any future measures that reduce Iran’s ability to acquire, produce or transfer weapons.”
At the same time, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, meeting for the second day with Group of Seven foreign ministers on the island of Capri, reiterated that supporting Ukraine means working for peace.
“Helping Ukraine means working for peace, because if Kiev loses, Putin will never sit at the peace table,” Tajani said as he opened the first G7 session of the day in Capri.
He also recalled that the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, will also be present at the meeting.
