Lupine on Netflix: Season 4 Compromised? Why is the update so long ago?

Last October, and after an absence of almost two years, Netflix offered its subscribers a continuation of the adventures of Assan Diop. Omar Sy donned Arsene Lupine’s costume once again in season three, which was just as effective.

With its open ending changing the cards, viewers are now waiting for only one thing: its renewal for Season 4.

Is the TV series too expensive?

But 7 months after the final episodes aired, there was no communication. Although the first two parts were filmed back-to-back and the third was announced during the launch of the trailer for the second season.

If creator George Kay said in an interview that he hoped to make a season 4, and Sufiane Guerrab (Guedira) suggested that it could see the light of day, a renewal is long overdue.

And one of the main reasons is told by a data expert who crypts releases every week in his newsletter Netflix and figures :

“Lupin” is a very interesting case because season 1 was a huge hit. Season 2, which came out 6 months later, was much less, and the recently released Season 3 lost half of the first season’s audience.

Generally, this doesn’t bode well, but even with this reduction of seasons 1 and 3, the latter is on the edge of the top 10 of all time for international series, so it remains a huge success.

And I think the dilemma on the Netflix/Gaumont side is that Season 4 is going to be expensive for an audience that’s bound to be smaller than the previous season.”

Netflix: 13 series that will have you hooked from the first episode

It must be said that Netflix has pulled out all the stops for filming Lupine, offering prestigious filming locations ranging from the Louvre in Season 1 to the Place Vendôme in Season 3. This production allows France to shine in the world by filming in special locations. But this obviously comes at a price.

We must not forget that Omar Sy is an actor in great demand both in France and outside our borders…

A movie to end the story?

It’s hard to imagine Netflix abandoning its golden goose and canceling Lupine in secret. Is the American giant thinking about a new strategy? Here’s what our expert suggests:

“I imagine it’s debatable, but if I had to bet, I’d bet on the film to close out/reboot the series while opening the door for a sequel when Omar Sy has the time and inclination. This is the way he uses especially Luther And the film was a huge success for the department.”

A Lupine movie would be a really good idea to close the intrigue around Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) and give a real ending to our favorite gentleman thief…
