Israeli forces launched the attack on Friday in the Nur Shams region, near the Palestinian town of Tulkarem. The Israeli army said several militants were killed and others arrested, and at least four soldiers were wounded in the firefight.

The Tulkarem Brigades, which includes militants from several Palestinian factions, said their soldiers were still exchanging fire with Israeli forces. At least three drones were seen flying over Nur Shams, where Israeli military vehicles were massed and explosions of gunfire were heard.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks hit the city of Rafah, in the south of the enclave, where more than a million Palestinians are taking refuge, and also the central city of Al-Nuseirat, where at least five houses were destroyed. Health sources and Hamas media report that Al-Jabalia, in the north of the Strip, was also hit.

The Israeli army said its troops were carrying out operations in the central Gaza Strip, where they clashed with Palestinian fighters. In total, Israeli attacks on the enclave have killed 37 Palestinians and wounded 68 in the past 24 hours, according to local health officials.
