30 years after the release of the film, which became an LGBTQIAPN+ landmark in cinema, the sequel was confirmed by director Stephan Elliott

Thirty years after its relaunch, Priscilla, Queen of the Desertwill gain a sequel with the returns of Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce It is Hugo Weaving, who were part of the film’s original cast. The information was revealed by Stephan Elliottscreenwriter and director of the first film, Deadline.

In 2022, when he came to Brazil to re-release the film in a remastered version, during the Rio Festival, Elliott had already revealed his desire to revisit the classic, originally released in 1994. “As the years went by, I grew tired of the weight of PriscillaI distanced myself from him and any gay material”explained to Folha de S. Paulo.

“I didn’t want to get stuck in the image of the flamboyant guy who was a fan of musicals, but 30 years later, now that I’m older, I’ve changed my relationship with film and decided it’s time to revisit that universe.”he added.
