Coming to theaters soon: Austin Butler and Tom Hardy as badass bikers in The Bikeriders trailer

Following the triumph of Dune: Part II as well as the successful Masters of the Air series, Austin Butler continues his momentum this year and returns to cinemas from June 19 to appear in The Bikeriders. This feature film, which promises to be particularly intense based on the first images, follows the rise of a Midwestern biker gang in the 1960s.

Screenwriter and director Jeff Nichols, to whom we owe Mud – On the Banks of Mississippi, Take Shelter and Loving, focuses here on the famous figure of the American biker. It is inspired by the photography of Danny Lyon, who himself followed a real group of bikers from 1963 to 1967.

On screen, Austin Butler plays the indomitable Benny, a member of the Vandals, a fictional Chicago club that starts out as a hangout for the local junkie, but which quickly becomes far more dangerous. At the head of this gang is the unforgiving Johnny played by the brilliant Tom Hardy, who also surprised his co-star on the set.

“I imagined him as a grizzly bear, always serious. And in fact, he’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He jokes around until someone yells “action” and then he becomes the most uptight guy ever. Austin Butler told Josh Brolin during a discussion between the two actors magazine interview.

Jodie Comer ( Killing Eve , The Last Duel ), who also headlines The Bikeriders , plays Cathy, a young woman who falls under Ben’s spell and appears to be the narrator of the story. Mike Feist, Michael Shannon, Damon Herriman and Norman Reedus star in the film.

Hit the road with the Vandals in The Bikeriders, in theaters June 19.
