Sylvester Stallone Says What Went Wrong With ‘Cobra’, One of His Worst-Rated Movies

In 1986, the world of cinema witnessed the premiere of ‘Cobra’, a film directed by George P. Kosmatos and starring Sylvester Stallone. The plot revolves around Marion Cobretti, a tough cop who is forced to protect the only surviving witness to the actions of a murderous cult.

Although in the 80s, Stallone gave us great gems like “Rocky” or “Rambo”, “Cobra” went down in history as one of his worst-rated works (it currently has only 18 hundred approval from the critic who specializes in ‘Rotten Tomatoes’), to the point where he received a Razzie nomination for worst actor for said work.

Although over time it reached the status of a cult film, Stallone himself confesses what he lacked and how he could improve the film.

Sylvester Stallone Says Why He Thinks ‘Cobra’ Movie Failed

At a recent screening of his “Insidious” documentary, the 77-year-old actor reflected on the 1986 film.

In his speech, Stallone revealed that he does not consider “Cobra” to be one of his best films. He said he “felt he should have directed” the film and that, looking back, he considers it “half-finished”.

“For me, ‘Cobra’ was half, I could have done better, but I wasn’t focused enough. I felt like it was something I should have directed, and I didn’t, and I’m sorry about that,” admitted Sylvester Stallone.

“That’s the thing about making movies, apart from watching your hair fall out, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, why didn’t I try harder?’ the interpreter added with a laugh.

Could Sylvester Stallone’s failed movie ‘Cobra’ be a TV series?

For a few weeks now, a rumor has been circulating on social networks that the cult film may return in the form of a TV series.

The speculation arose from a series of statements the actor made to the media in 2019.

In an interview with Fandango, he confirmed that he was in talks to turn Cobra into a TV series. “Speak with [el director] “Robert Rodriguez now in ‘Cobra,’ which looks like it could happen as a series”.

Although Rodriguez was not involved in the first film, Stallone stated that “she’s basically his baby now.”

That year he also told “Empire” of his desire to make the story “a franchise because that character was great.”

In the aforementioned conversation, he also noted that he had “spoiled” what would have been a great film: “My personal life got in the way. But we’re trying to bring it back as a streaming TV series.”

Despite these statements, there is currently no update on the development of the TV series, so the ‘Cobra’ rumors can be considered false.
