The third installment of ‘The kingdom’ will be released 25 years after the last chapter
Lars Von Trier will premiere this year the third season of his series ‘The Kingdom’25 years after the second installment came to light becoming one of the best horror series in history.
‘The Kingdom Exodus‘ will take us back to “The Kingdom”, a Danish hospital with labyrinthine and soulless corridors that lead to the door that connects with the world of spirits.
A sinister and disturbing series where you never know what is going to happen next: A patient in search of ghosts and strange presences, a ghost ambulance, a macabre sect of surgeons, a monstrous pregnancy with Udo Kier as the protagonist… And, to end each episode, Von Trier himself appeared in a suit to ask you how the experience was and explain a bit about the chapter and the constant struggle between good and evil that takes place in the hospital.
Stephen King tried to adapt the series to the American public with a remake (‘Hospital Kingdom’) which, although it lost the dreamlike tone of the original, remarkably reinterpreted the supernatural and fanciful spirit of the story. But since the source material wasn’t his, we didn’t include it among the best Stephen King adaptations. Now, more than two decades later, von Trier returns with his unique look to close the trilogy of one of his most hypnotic and interesting works.
‘The Kingdom Exodus’ Release Date
Filmin will premiere ‘The Kingdom Exodus’ in autumn 2022 exclusively in Spainas well as the previous two seasons of the series and the entire filmography of director Lars von Trier.
The third season is written, like the original series, by Lars Von Trier in collaboration with Niels Vørsel., and is produced by Zentropa Entertainments in co-production with Film I Vast, Zentropa Sweden and Ginger Pictures. will consist of five episodes of approximately 60 minutes each and a reduced version is expected to be presented at the Venice Film Festival, but is yet to be confirmed.

“The door to the Kingdom has been openedand impatient souls can now get their first glimpse into the unexplained supernatural world of The Realm, where the final battle between good and evil is about to begin”, reads the official synopsis.
Twenty-five years later, the third season will follow Karen, a sleepwalker who searches for answers to the series’ unresolved problems in order to save the hospital from doom. One night, fast asleep, Karen wanders into the dark and inexplicably ends up in front of the hospital..
‘The Kingdom Exodus’, Cast
The cast includes recognizable faces from Nordic cinema such as Lars Mickelsen (‘The Killing’, ‘Borgen’), Nikolaj Lie Kaas (‘Horsemen of Justice’) and Michael Persbrandt (‘The Hobbit’, ‘Sex Education’), Tuva Novotny (‘Nobel’) or the iconic udo kierand will have Alexander Skarsgardwho already worked with von Trier in ‘Melancolía’, as a guest star.
