7 series you must watch if you’re a fan of ‘The Umbrella Academy’: Consuelo Duval’s son appears in one

‘Super X’ (2017)

A thirtysomething named Alex and a fan of heroes from nowhere manifests superpowers (on ViX you can watch “Super X” for free).

However, instead of becoming a hero like the Hargreeves boys of Umbrella Academy, his life becomes even more complicated as he lives at his mom’s house and is rejected by his crush.

“Misfits” (2009)

This British series tells the story of a group of teenagers with criminal records who, in the midst of their community work, gain powers due to a storm.

The series has many similarities to “The Umbrella Academy” in that it depicts a group of misfits who try to become heroes (although many times it doesn’t turn out well).

Even the actor Robert Sheehan, who plays Klaus in the Netflix production, has a role here and one with the same power: that of immortality.

“Lethal Class” (2019) features an elite school to train criminals and serial killers, attended by the children of the world’s most powerful crime families and ill-suited to hone their skills.

It is actually based on the graphic novel of the same name by Rick Remember and Wesley Craig and stars Michel Duval, son of Mexican comedian Consuelo Duval.

‘Doom Patrol’ (2019)

The series based on the comics of the same name by DC Comics brings together a group of unusual superheroes: all rejected by society and harboring a tragic past that negatively affected their lives.

In fact, Gerard Way admitted on his website (2019), that “Doom Patrol” was one of his inspirations for the creation of “The Umbrella Academy”.

“The Warrior Nun” (2020)

The title of this series available on Netflix says it all, a nun who fights demons to prevent the apocalypse.

The production adapts Ben Dunn’s comic “Warrior Nun Areala” and follows the adventures of a 19-year-old girl who returns from the dead to confront the forces of evil.

“God Omens” (2019)

Another series outside of the comic book world is God Omens, which adapts Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s story about an angel and a demon teaming up to prevent the apocalypse.

That’s right, it’s not just the Umbrella guys who are worried about avoiding the end of the world, in this series Crowley and Aziraphael are so used to living on Earth that they decide to prevent the arrival of the Antichrist.

“Invincible” (2021)

In this case it is an animated series, but not for that reason it is dedicated to a children’s audience.

Scenes full of blood and death are constant throughout the “show”.

It is based on the comic of the same name created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. which chronicles the superhero journey of Mark Grayson, the son of a famous hero from another planet who harbors a dark secret.
