Eloise Bridgerton is the fifth child of the Bridgerton family and is known for her strong opposition to marriage and her rejection of traditional expectations of women during the Regency era.
Her wit, honesty and forward thinking made her a much loved character. Although her love story has not been told in the Netflix series, her love interest has already appeared in several scenes and we will explain who she is.
First, Eloise Bridgerton has a love interest with Theo in the series
It’s important to note that the streaming platform is making some changes to the original story, and one of those changes involves this young woman. In the second season, Eloise visits a printing shop where she meets Theo, a local worker who shares her taste in literature.
This meeting only happens in the Netflix version, since in the books it is revealed who the person she ends up marrying really is.
According to Julia Quinn’s books, the fifth volume titled ‘To Sir Phillip, With Love’ explores her romantic journey and explains that her idea of marriage changes after her friend Penelope Featherington marries her brother.
What is the story of Eloise Bridgerton and Phillip Crane according to the books?
In the past, the young woman had rejected 6 marriage proposals and had called herself a “psindera”. However, this changes after she maintains contact through correspondence with Phillip Crane, the man who married Marina Thompson after the death of her true love, George Crane, who does appear in the series.
In one of the letters, Phillip suggests Eloise find a mother for his children after Marina’s death. After receiving this proposal, she leaves London to meet him in person without telling him, which surprises him.
After spending several days at home and living with her mischievous children, Eloise begins to fall in love with Phillip, who in person appears to be a more distant person due to the memory of his late wife Marina.
In a short time both end up falling in love and getting married. Eloise realizes that her marriage does not compromise her independence, but rather enhances it.
At the moment, given the changes in the Netflix series compared to the books, it is unknown whether the fifth season will deal with her story and how the appearance of the outsider, Theo, will affect Eloise’s life, but one thing is sure, Philip has been present in a minor way in the “Bridgerton” plot, and his moment to shine could come sooner than expected.
